Prabowo's Coalition Party Begins to Seriously Discuss Ministerial Shares

The Chairman of the Expert Council of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Dradjad Hari Wibowo, stated that the process of lobbying and assigning party cadres as ministers has been mandated to PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan. Nevertheless, the plan will still be discussed with PAN Advisory Council Chairman Hatta Rajasa and other elites.

"Discussions have begun. Matters related to coalition and PAN cadre assignments in cabinets have been entrusted to the chairman. Of course, Bang Zul (Zulkifli Hasan) will discuss it with Bang Hatta and other PAN leaders," he said when contacted from Jakarta on Monday (29/4/2024).

Prabowo determined

Even so, Dradjad is reluctant to reveal more about the quantity or names that PAN will propose. However, the final results of the internal discussions will be determined by Zulkifli Hasan, as the party’s chairman, to be presented to the elected President, Prabowo.

Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, said a similar thing. He said that the quota of ministers and cadres that Golkar would send to the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet was determined by Golkar General Chair Airlangga Hartarto. The results will be conveyed to Prabowo.

"It is completely handed over to the General Chairperson of Airlangga," he explained.

Support without dowry

Separately, the Chairwoman of the Nasdem Central Board Irma Suryani Chaniago emphasized that Nasdem does not ask for any dowry to support the Prabowo-Gibran government, including requesting for a share of ministerial seats. "Nasdem does not talk about ministerial seats," she said.

For Nasdem, controlling government policy does not necessarily mean being in opposition. From within the government, Nasdem can provide input and control future government policies.

The coalition PKB has never talked about sharing ministerial seats for a long time.

”What is main for us, the interests of the nation and state must be above the interests of political parties. "So, in the future, of course the programs and regulations must be on the side of the people so that a prosperous Indonesia can be achieved," said Irma.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Jazilul Fawaid, revealed that their party did not request any ministerial posts when deciding to work together. They left the decision to Prabowo as the holder of the prerogative right.

"The PKB coalition has never talked about distributing ministerial seats. Just wait, when Pak Prabowo is inaugurated, he will have the prerogative to choose whoever will help him," he explained.
