Otto Hasibuan: The 2024 Election is the Peaceful and Best Election

"The narrative being developed and built as if the people choose Prabowo-Gibran because of cheating and the existence of social assistance. Frankly, this is very painful and hurts the Indonesian people, denying the majority of Indonesian society's right to determine their choice freely," said Otto in a hearing led by Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo, on Thursday (28/3/2024).

However, according to Otto, the community's choice is based on their conscience. Accusations that the people chose the Prabow-Gibran pair because of social assistance and cheating greatly hurt the people of Indonesia.

Otto also reminded all parties to act wisely and responsibly in maintaining compliance with Article 6A Verse (3) of the 1945 Constitution. "Do not let dissatisfaction with the election results lead to continuous delegitimization efforts based on unconstitutional reasons," he said.

The legal team of Prabowo-Gibran also sees efforts to invalidate the 96 million votes of the people who chose candidate pair number 2 in the election held on February 14th.

The narrative developed and constructed as if the people chose Prabowo-Gibran because of fraud and social assistance. Frankly speaking, this is very painful and hurts the people.

Authorities of agencies

Furthermore, Otto revealed that Amin's legal team is not correct if they bring all issues related to electoral fraud and violations to the Constitutional Court. This is because it is the authority of other agencies, considering that the Constitutional Court's authority is actually very limited to the election results that affect the election of the president and vice president. In addition, the Constitutional Court only has 14 working days to resolve it.

In short, the extended period of resolving election disputes is necessary to ensure that the state's agenda, in the form of filling positions in the republic, can proceed smoothly and on time. The term of the current president and vice president will end on October 20, 2024.

"If this series of elections does not come to an end, for example with demands for disqualification or a repeat election, it has the potential to create other problems that could lead to a crisis of statehood in the republic. The Prabowo camp sees Gibran's candidacy as a result of Constitutional Court's decision No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023. Therefore, the petitioner is no longer dealing with the KPU or the respondent and related parties, but with the Constitutional Court itself," he added.
