KAI Commuter Carries 20.9 Million Passengers during Eid 2024

KCI's Director of Operations and Marketing, Broer Rizal, said that the total number of commuter line (KRL) users in all KAI Commuter operational areas during the 2024 Eid transport period (31 March-21 April 2024) was 20,960,944 passengers.

"Meanwhile, specifically for KRL users in Jabodetabek, the total number of users during the 2024 Eid transport period is 17,896,165 people. "With the highest volume of Jabodetabek commuter lines of 1,041,750 people on April 1 2024," said Broer at a press conference during the 2024 Eid Transport period in Jakarta, Tuesday (23/4/2024).

As for the total number of users, on the Merak Commuter Line, the total number of users during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr transport period was 287,758 people. Meanwhile, the total number of users on the Yogya-Palur Commuter Line during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr transport period was 46,811 people.

Then, the total number of Commuter Line Prameks users during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr transportation period was 6,082 people, and the total number of Commuter Line Bandung users was 1,170,325 people.

Broer detailed the five stations with the highest commuter line users for arrivals in the Jabodetabek area, namely Bogor Station with 1,086,461 people, Tanah Abang 943,832 people, Citayam 660,202 people, Bekasi 594,266 people, and Depok Baru 576,807 people. As for departures, there were 1,094,077 people from Bogor Station, 932,804 people from Tanah Abang, 639,821 people from Citayam, 572,377 people from Depok Baru and 565,752 people from Bekasi.

"In this Eid period, the total revenue for all KCI operating areas is Rp 88 billion. Meanwhile, specifically for the Greater Jakarta KRL area, it is Rp 64 billion," he said.

Learning from the surge of passengers during Eid holidays, during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, KCI will still provide additional travel on the same route sections as during Eid. The health posts at several stations that are currently being promoted are also expected to increase.

Regarding the increase in the number of passengers, Broer acknowledged that KCI provided additional trips on the Yogyakarta-Solo KRL, Yogyakarta-Kutoarjo Prameks train, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport train.

Learning from the increase in passengers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holiday, KCI will still provide additional trips on the same route as during Eid. Health posts at several stations that are currently being promoted are also expected to increase.

"For the upcoming Christmas and New Year's moments, we will also increase the frequency of trips on some corridors," said Broer.

Furthermore, they will continue to review the safety of facilities on trains and at stations. In addition to ensuring passenger comfort, passenger safety is also important.

On the other hand, Broer is grateful that the crime rate in the KAI Commuter area has decreased. He considers this to be due to the operation of 700 CCTV Analytics to prevent criminals from entering stations in the Jabodetabek region.

In this system, he said, the camera can record the faces of all users who enter the station to be used as a database. Apart from recording faces, this system can also analyze other things, such as the clothes worn or other belongings which can be used as a database in the analysis and search process with this CCTV Analytic system.

"If detected and there is a match with the facial features or other details, this system will give notifications when recorded while entering the station," he said.

Improved services are expected by residents not only during the Eid al-Fitr holiday season. Isti (34), a resident of Central Jakarta, expressed her complaints over the facilities at Manggarai Station, which serves as a transit point for several destinations.

Isti hopes that KAI will evaluate Manggarai Station as a transit center. That way, crowding at Manggarai Station can be minimized.

"During the Eid holiday season, Manggarai Station becomes increasingly crowded. "It needs to be improved to make it more orderly," he said.

In addition, Isti complained about passengers exceeding the capacity. This is caused by KRL users forcing themselves into the train carriages.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta resident Aisha Adinda (26) hopes that the new trains can carry more passengers. Because on the Tangerang-Duri line that she uses, the trains mostly consist of eight carriages. Therefore, the number of trains with 12 carriages is greatly needed.

"Most of the time, only eight trains pass on my line, only 10 trains at a certain time. "Hopefully the number of carriages will be increased to 12," he said.
