Prabowo-Gibran End their Political Safari This Wednesday with Dinner at the Merdeka Palace

On Wednesday morning, Prabowo-Gibran was named as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidate by the General Election Commission (KPU). After being appointed, Prabowo-Gibran immediately went around visiting political and community figures.

For example, Prabowo visited the General Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar, at the PKB Central Office. The two held a closed meeting with several elite members of PKB and Gerindra, a political party led by Prabowo.

During the occasion, Muhaimin expressed his support for Prabowo-Gibran. One of Prabowo-Gibran's rivals in the 2024 Presidential Election also submitted eight programs for change to be implemented by Prabowo-Gibran when leading the government in the future.

At the same time, Gibran visited the Muara Baru area to meet with residents and distribute milk. After that, Gibran visited Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the Vice President's official residence on Diponegoro Street in Jakarta to exchange social courtesies.

When they met, Gibran kissed Ma'ruf Amin's hand. Vice President Amin's spokesperson, Masduki Baidlowi, said that the meeting between the country's oldest and youngest vice presidents was a historic one.

Gibran referred to the opportunity as a form of friendly visit. "This evening we were given the opportunity to pay a visit to the Vice President. Today we seek guidance, advice, and direction from him because he is, after all, a senior figure, a mentor, and also a Vice President who has successfully fulfilled his duties thus far," he said.

To Gibran, the Vice President reminded that synergy between the President and Vice President is very important. He likened the President and Vice President to a doubles badminton player who must be cohesive, work in synergy, and support each other.

In several occasions, Vice President Amin often said, when the President is in front, he is behind; when the President is on the left, he is on the right. Therefore, there is no collision, but rather complementing each other.

Vice President Amin, said Gibran, also added the importance of sustainability. So, from the previous President to the new President, it is hoped that there will be continuity. "And, perhaps I have often said during campaigns or debates how important equitable development is, this was also highlighted by the Vice President," said Gibran.

In a warm and casual meeting, Vice President Amin also shared stories and jokes during his visit to Dubai. At that time, he prayed at the Jokowi Mosque, even though President Jokowi has not yet had a chance to visit there. "It's just a joke," said Masduki.

As for Gibran, according to Masduki, he is currently focused on Surakarta. The Mayor of Surakarta also invited the Vice President to inaugurate a tourist destination that is still being completed by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. The inauguration is estimated to be in June or July.

Masduki added that presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs number 1 and 3 have shown high sportsmanship. Therefore, this is a good moment for Prabowo and Gibran to go on safari while consolidating.

Prabowo and Gibran then met at the Minister of Defense's official residence in the Widya Chandra complex to meet with President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace. The two of them met with President Jokowi for more than two hours. Prabowo and Gibran left the Presidential Palace complex at 9:40 PM. It is not known what was discussed with President Jokowi as the meeting was closed.
