Eid has passed, the job vacancy market is busy being sought after

Nevertheless, this South Jakarta resident has previously explored various companies in the Jabodetabek area and applied for jobs. However, the dream of getting a new job quickly has yet to be achieved.

At this job fair, Triana went around looking at several company outlets. In fact, he has targeted several companies to propose to.

"There are about three company booths that interest me. I have already submitted my application. Now, I just have to wait for a call because the selection process will be conducted first," said the woman who graduated from her Bachelor's degree just last year.

In line with Triana, for Agus (25), he considers the job fair event to be very helpful to the community, especially young people, in finding work. Meanwhile, he has participated in several job fair events, both held by the government and the private sector.

At this job fair, Agus was interested in a number of booths. Before leaving, he had revised his curriculum vitae so that it was more attractive and had a greater chance of being accepted for work.

Beforehand, Agus worked for two years as an administrative staff. However, he chose to resign and not renew his contract due to the discrepancy between his salary and workload.

"However, it turns out that finding a new job now is more difficult. It has been six months and I still haven't found a new job," said this resident of South Jakarta.

Agus also hopes that activities similar to job fairs will be held more often, especially by local governments. This is because the forum for bringing together job seekers and job provider companies is considered to be still minimal.

Prepare for a career

Not only Triana and Agus, hundreds of other job seekers also filled the arena of the job fair held by Satu Kerja in collaboration with Tama Jagakarsa University. There were several company booths that opened job vacancies at the event which was only held for one day.

Hesti Ayu Andini, Public Relations Officer of Tama Jagakarsa University, stated that this event is held in preparation for the careers of active students and alumni. However, people outside the campus are also allowed to attend.

"The purpose of this activity is to provide extensive information and job opportunities for the community as well as alumni in searching for employment that matches their expertise," he said.

We actively participated in the selection process of the invited companies, as well as in the data collection of jobseekers who passed the final selection stage. Meanwhile, the campus also advised active students to visit company booths to inquire about their dream jobs in the future.

Not only a career fair, this job fair activity is also filled with talk shows with practitioners in their fields and presentations from various companies. Apart from that, there is also a recruitment process, job vacancy information, and a walk in interview where prospective candidates can interview directly with the company.

The list of companies joining this job fair includes Kawan Lama Group, Home Credit, Permata Indonesia, Indihome, Radikari and Aseanindo.

The purpose of this activity is to provide extensive information and job opportunities for the community and alumni in finding employment that matches their skills.

As the organizer of the event, Business Director of Satu Kerja, Ronald Sarpono, said that this was the first time his party had held a job fair directly. Previously, he had held online job fairs six times.

"This is a fitting moment as it coincides with post-Eid al-Fitr, where many people seek employment as migrants in big cities or due to the termination of their job contracts. There are 17 companies involved in this program," he said.

Wanting to help the wider community to get their dream job more easily, Ronald plans to regularly hold job fair activities, both online and offline. The target is at least twice a month.

Moment of resignation

On the other hand, new job vacancies tend to be widespread after Eid al-Fitr. One factor is the resignation of workers which tends to occur during Ramadan and after receiving holiday bonuses.

"If we talk about the job market trends after Eid al-Fitr, it is certain that there will be an increase in new job vacancies. My clients have been requesting since the beginning of Eid al-Fitr to find workers who are ready to fill positions after Eid and in early May 2024. This is supported by one of the facts, the tendency of resignations that are rampant after the distribution of holiday allowances (THR), so the vacant positions need to be filled by new employees," said Founder and Managing Director of Headhunter Indonesia, Haryo Suryosumarto (Kompas.id, 22/4/2024).

According to Haryo, employees who resign in droves usually already have job offers from other companies. They then wait for the disbursement of the holiday allowance first, which is followed by submitting their resignation. In other words, they have gone through the recruitment process at the other company since 1-2 months before Eid.

If investigated, said Haryo, the main reason employees did this was because they did not receive good remuneration in their old office. The new workplace dares to provide higher remuneration than the old workplace.
