Considering Various Inputs, PDI-P Holds National Working Meeting to Formulate Political Direction

In the upcoming national meeting, party officials from the local to central levels will hold a consultation to provide suggestions to PDI-P Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri regarding the party's future direction. "We have to wait until the national meeting on May 24-26 to see PDI-P's stance," said Djarot.

"That (PDI-P's stance) will wait for the National Working Meeting on May 24-26, OK? ”

Djarot emphasized that PDI-P has no problem with Prabowo or the Gerindra Party, as communication continues to be maintained informally and has been done to the best of their abilities. "With Mr. Prabowo and Gerindra, there is no problem. Our communication has been established as best as possible," said Djarot.

Megawati considers all input

Separately, the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Said Abdullah, added that strategic decisions are the prerogative of Megawati as the party's Chairwoman. He believed that all inputs regarding the PDI-P's stance and direction in politics will definitely be taken into consideration by Megawati.

"The authority regarding the political direction of PDI-P is determined by the Chairperson. She will certainly receive input from the party's DPP officials and various prominent figures," said Said.

As is known, since being announced as the presidential candidate with the highest number of votes based on quick count results, Prabowo has expressed his intention to embrace all political forces, including his opponents in the 2024 presidential election. When he was declared as the elected president by the KPU, he also invited all elites to leave their differences behind and build the nation together.

In fact, Prabowo met with PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar on Wednesday (24/4/2024). After the meeting, Muhaimin expressed support for Prabowo-Gibran. The following day, it was the turn of the Nasdem Party to openly declare that it had joined the ranks of supporters of the elected president-vice president Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Gerindra continues to try to embrace PDI-P

According to the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, the efforts of Prabowo-Gibran to embrace the opposing sides in the presidential election did not stop after gaining support from PKB and Nasdem. His party is still actively trying to reach out to PDI-P and PPP.

With PDI-P, Gerindra is building good communication with the Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP, Puan Maharani. "We will invite all forces, all leaders to together build Indonesia in the future,” said Muzani on Friday night.

The discourse sounded more serious as Gerindra plans to bring together PDI-P Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto. Even Prabowo, according to Muzani, has already discussed the meeting with Gerindra's internal members. (DYT/WIL)
