North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, Commissioner General Gidion Arif Setyawan, stated in his official statement that, after examining 36 witnesses including STIP cadets, CCTV footage, and deepening the case for 24 hours since the police report was filed by the victim's family, his party has identified one person as a suspect, with the initials TRS.

"TRS taruna STIP Cilincing level 2 (second year), victim Putu level 1. The sole perpetrator who carried out this action. We concluded this after synchronizing the available data and the results narrowed down to this suspect," said Gidion, when confirmed on Sunday (5/5/2024).

"This action was carried out with repressive actions or acts of violence which caused the death of the victim," said Gidion.

From the investigation results, Putu was not alone when he was in the school restroom. There were four other friends who were also taken to the second-floor toilet to receive punishment from four senior cadets. While in the restroom, the suspect then said, "Who is the strongest."

"I am the strongest," said Gidion, describing Putu's answer shortly before the incident last Friday morning.

Although they were already lining up, Putu's four friends were lucky enough not to have been subjected to violence because Putu lost consciousness from the hit of his senior. Putu, who was unconscious, immediately received help and was taken to one of the classrooms next to the bathroom.

"According to the suspect, he put his hand in (the victim's) mouth to pull out his tongue. But it actually closes the (breathing) channels, the victim dies. "After seeing that the victim was helpless and panicked, rescue efforts were then carried out, which were not in accordance with procedures," said Gidion.

The results of the victim's autopsy showed wounds and bleeding in the chest or around the solar plexus as well as abrasions in the mouth. Apart from that, there were food scraps that rose to the top as a result of the suspect trying to pull the victim's tongue.

“Pulling (the victim's) tongue so that the respiratory organs or oxygen are closed, oxygen does not enter. TRS hit the victim five times in a row without stopping (in the solar plexus). "(The victim's) position was standing (when he was hit)," said Hady, who invited anyone, especially junior cadets, if they had ever experienced an act of violence to report it.

In my opinion, this act of violence is absolutely unacceptable and has fatal consequences.

As a result of his actions, TRS was charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code juncto subsidiary Article 351 Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a sentence of 15 years in prison.

Four senior cadets who entered the bathroom will be handed over to the school authorities for disciplinary violations. The police are focused on uncovering the case and punishing one perpetrator or suspect who has been proven to have committed the violence that led to the loss of life of the victim.

According to Gidion, the occurrence of violence within the school environment that results in victims should serve as a lesson for educational institutions in Indonesia so that it will not happen again. "Violent actions like that, in my opinion, are unacceptable and have fatal consequences," he said.

Tumbur Aritonang, the legal counsel for the Putu family, stated that the family deeply regrets the occurrence of violence in the educational environment. Violence in the educational environment is not the first time to happen at STIP, but also in other schools or campuses.

"We hope nothing happens again. "Don't let there be any more victims," ​​he said.

The family, according to Tumbur, is still waiting for accountability and evaluation of the violence incident in the campus despite the condolences from the university.
